What is guitar beginner?
Guitar Beginner is the imaginatively-named site showcasing my guitar repertoire over the last two years of playing. There are no stupid discussions on who the best virtuoso guitarist is (it's Eddie van Halen) - just a site to help budding guitarists find songs they'd like to and can play.
Who are you?
I'm Matt. I'm a 21-year-old student currently living and studying in the British seaside town of Bournemouth. I study web development and I've been playing guitar for for over two years. Heralding from the UK, you'll notice a British music on the site like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
Two years and you can only play this?
I never claim to be a talented guitarist. I do it mainly for fun, in my spare time. I've never played in a band and only sporadically jam with friends. If I took it seriously, I'd be hiding the fact I learnt to play
Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star.
omg wtf were is teh indie? lol!!!1
Sorry, this site is for songs I've learnt and I haven't learnt any Indie, Nu-Metal, Emo, Alternative Rock, Post-Rock or any other pretentiously-named rock. Only Rock Rock here - stuff that hasn't or won't be forgotten in 20 years time... lol
So who are you favourite bands?
To be honest, my first love is electronic music. Breakbeat and Intelligent Drum and Bass are my muse. That said, I like anything which has a
je ne sais quoi. If I had to choose a favourite rock band it would be
Pink Floyd, without a doubt. Dark Side of the Moon is the impiety of rock music - even after 30 years. There's about seven other albums I'd love to have. Other than the Floyd, I'd say Guns 'n' Roses,
Led Zep,
Aerosmith, Doves, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Lenny Kravitz,
Red Hot Chili Peppers,
Van Halen and a few other artist listed on the site.
Where is Stairway To Heaven?

Stairway denied indeed. It's a great song for beginners, it just isn't on the list because have never gotten round to learning it. As much as I love the song, there are others out there also worth learning.
What equipment do you use?
My axe is a wood Yamaha Pacifica. It has the
HSS pick-ups, one volume and one tone knob, selector switch and a floating
bridge which can take a surprising amount of stick. It was second hand, very solid and suits me perfectly.
My amplifier is a Roland Cube 30. With a crystal-clear clean channel and 7 modelled amps it suits my needs perfectly. There are also various phaser and delay effects.
To finish, I've got a wah pedal and fuzz box (which has a wicked damage setting). I'd imagine every guitarist has a favourite plectrum and mine has to be the 2mm Dunlop Stubby.
What equipment would you like?
A few months ago I was playing with the idea of getting an HSS Fat Strat. It attracted me as it is similar to my Pacifica (a Srat clone itself) but also features a
Floyd Rose bridge for some really cool
dives. Being a Stratocaster, it also sounds stunning.
I'm so happy with my Cube 30, I'd probably get one of those pod amplifier modeling things. I tried one and some sound uncanny. Apart from that, a
talkbox would be cool!
